A shooting in the parking lot of the West Towers startled some early Wednesday morning.

At exactly 2 a.m. Wednesday morning in the West Towers parking lot, a drive by shooting occurred. Four gun shots, the sound of tires screeching and yelled explicits woke some students up abruptly. "All I heard was gunshots, so I walked to the window and saw a gold car drive by," said junior speech pathology major Nyla Funderburk.

"There was also a guy walking around and it seemed like someone had been shooting at him. So I asked [by yelling down from the window]'what happened…Is anybody hurt'," she said.

The male victim, who is yet to be identified, looked aggravated and concerned just seconds after the gunshots were fired in his direction. He paced around where the trunk of his white Chevy stood open, until the police arrived, around seven minutes later.

Funderburk called the DC County Police, along with a campus security guard, at the scene of the crime to report the incident.

When campus police were contacted by The Hilltop, they said that the case was "already being investigated" and to contact "PR of Howard University" for any questions.

No one seemed to have been injured, but the victims car may have suffered damage. Police were at the scene of the crime for more than an hour after the incident, to report the case.
